Juba Restaurant - Fort McMurray

Excellent VALUE FOR THE PRICE. The fish is AMAZING. We also love their homemade hot sauce. But my favorite is the jabati (Somalian flatbread) with chicken, it is delicious!!! We had never tried Somalian food before. We went once, and we've returned 6 or 7 times ever since. One of our teenage daughter's favorite spot in town! She's celiac and has no issues with their fish with rice, her favorite!

We came to the restaurant on a Friday evening, the restaurant was quiet with only a couple of other tables there. I thought that was a bad sign, but was pleasantly surprised. I am no authority on authentic Somalian cuisine, but the food was flavorful and portions were good. The menu is simple and I can appreciate a restaurant that chooses to do a few items well, rather than many items poorly. We had the chicken stew jabati and basa filet with rice. Both meals were fantastic, moist and flavorful. The in house made hot sauce is awesome. The service was also friendly and personable. I'd happily recommend this restaurant. The only thing it lacks is either a vegan or vegetarian option.

The name Juba is indeed the capital of South Sudan, but I believe this restaurant is mostly Somali food.I did try the rice with chicken and also with goat. Food tasted very fresh, good spices, plate comes with some salad.Location is not easy to see from the road and is not on a main road either.Nothing espectacular about this place, just something different in town. I will go back again.

In our office building the Juba Restaurant has opened up a short time ago, and I have come to find out that Juba is the capital of South Sudan. This explains the unique food and approach to serving their food to people. There are chairs and tables, but also a carpeted area for those who choose to sit on a carpet to eat or pray. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful in explaining the dish choices and then going off to prepare the food and bring it to your table. Very rare personal touch and warmth to the whole experience. The food will not to be everyone's taste, but it is worth giving it a try, nice to see people from such a far away and diverse place take a chance on serving their ethnic food to people in Fort McMurray.

Very professional and friendly staff. The food was amazing, much better than expected. The quality in food and portion size is a steal. I really enjoyed the food. would recommend to family and friends. Definitely would return.
