Cana China Restaurant - Forest

As we passed through Forest,on a whim,we dropped in for a noon lunch and were very pleasantly surprised.Another couple,just finishing their dinner for two advised us the food was outstanding and recommended what they had enjoyed.The owner/server, who was very friendly and courteous, advised us he had a new menu and a new cook.We each ordered individual meals which were extremely nicely done and presented.We enjoyed our time there and will return again when we pass through.

We have been there many times over the years. Usually combining with a trip to the Kineto. Meal First, then the movie. Previous owner sold restaurant very recently and we thought we would give it a chance. We were eating lightly that night so only shared a plate of Jar Doo chicken wings and a Cantonese chow mein. Chichken wings were fine, but where to begin on chow mein.The rice was served about half way into the meal.The noodles, ordered very crispy, were not fried at all --what we were served was a plate of steamed chicken, vegetables and gummy noodles. Nothing had been properly marinated, and there was no spice whatsoever in the dish, no garlic no Chinese spices--nothing. It was utterly appalling. Very sad to see a great restaurant go down the tubes so quickly.

Our family has enjoyed this restaurant for many years and under its new management, it is not friendly , unorganized, the menu selection limited and traditional favourites have been eliminated. The new manager from London needs to take some serious interest in his new venture as the citizens of Forest vote with their feet. The food was bland and not served hot. Thie former owners made their business a treat.....and as a previous reviewer has mentioned...an icon is now gone. We have no plans to return and this was a place where we had dinner at least three times in a month.

Great tasting food. Amazing selection of dishes. Wonton soup is the best anywhere. All your Asian-Canadian fusion favourites from the Guangdong (Cantonese) and Sichuan styles. Lots of other popular items too. You will not be disappointed. Owners are friendly and long time community members. They are always there to greet you. They also have a specialty tea business inside that offers a wide selection of customizable blends.

We had heard this restaurant was fantastic. We drove 1/2 hour to pick up our order. We were not impressed with the quality. We usually look forward to left-overs but threw it out. Sorry. We really looked forward to it.
