As we were walking in, a couple saw us approaching and asked if we were coming in. We said yes and they said that we were in for a good meal. They were sitting out at one of the outdoor tables and really enjoying their meal. They gave us a few pointers as we have never been there before. When were greeted by the server, she set down a HUGE bowl of pickles. I wish I would've gotten a picture of our meal but I was already approaching the hangry stage so I just dove in and enjoyed the crisp picked. My husband really likes Reuben and Cuban sandwiches so he scoured the menu what he wanted to order. I'm not a huge fan so I opted to go the route of a cod sandwich. Overall my husband did enjoy the sandwich that he ordered and I did enjoy my cod sandwich. My cod was super hot and I appreciate that fish can cool quickly so I know it was brought out to us promptly. I Dossow really enjoyed that I was able to order the bun on my sandwich as it comes, or grilled, or toasted. Both meals came with a potato pancake. I opted not to eat mine entirely but did have a few bites as it had some onion in it wish I could have enjoyed it but I am not tolerant of onions.
This has been one of my long-standing favourite sandwich shops. They are famous for their fantastic Reubens which I have talked in great detail about in my previous review. I went in a different direction and went with a Kickin Corned Beef Sandwich. It comes with corned beef (obviously), their special horseradish sauce, Swiss cheese, tomato, and onion on rye toast. I left the tomato and onion off of my own sandwich. The horseradish was a swift kick in tge teeth as it should have been and the corned beef was superb. The Swiss cheese and rye were great choices for the sandwich as well completing a pretty dynamite sandwich. The Izzy's potato cakes continue to be the greatest on the planet (or at least the best I've ever had). They have like just a hint of sauerkraut and the potatoes are crispy and just perfect. The service was tremendous as always and Izzy's continues to bolster their superior reputation in my world.
Finally had to try this local sandwich place out as it was highly recommended a few times. I had the classic Reuben whichwas pretty good! But I feel like they kind of lacked on the thousand island dressing. It was literally stuffed to the brim with the typical Reuben fillings but the dressing was just not entirely there. Came on top of a potato which was good to have afterwards. Overall it was a very filling meal for a good price but next time I would ask for more thousand island dressing on my sandwich.
Wow! What a great memory relived. This is our first experience in the new location great spot. It was busy so we opted for al fresco. With the outdoor seating covered and on the east side of the building, we were protected from the summer sun and enjoyed the breeze through. We ordered our nostalgic favorites, including the classic Rueben, but switched it up on grilled wheatberry what? Where has this been all my life...???! And of course, with what I've been dreaming of since moving back from Georgia potato pancakes : The service was quick, cheerful and full of helpful suggestions as we got reacquainted with our old go to's. A lovely lunch to fulfill a nostalgic family day. Thank you, Izzy's you did not disappoint!
Delicious carryout from Izzy's in Florence tonight. My Codfather sandwich and potato pancake was delicious, and my husband got the Corn-beef Swiss sandwich with baked potato salad.
