Excellent food,friendly service on very wet night,.came away feeling we had been well looked after see you next time

Cozy restaurant run by two young guys who provide good service at good prices. Good home cooking of meat, fish, cheese, and typical eggs... The menu of the day (13 €) was excellent. Good atmosphere.

We had walked in to town from Le Vivier and wanted a simple, but good lunch. We were not disappointed. The staff coped with my appalling French. The three course lunch was perfect for an early summer day and the pot of local Rose was just the job. Thank you.We booked the whole of our family group for dinner the next day; so we can listen in on the World Cup football. Allez les Bleus!

It is hard to describe how angry we were with this restaurant. I think it was probably the worst (out of hundreds) of dining experiences we have had in France (or anywhere). Our food was poor, tough and badly flavoured. We complained after only eating half of our main course, and requested that instead of dessert we receive a discount on the 3 course set menu. The surly young waiter said this was not possible, so we asked to see the proprietor. Eventually they presented us with a bill that was reduced by 6 euros (about 10%). The proprietor did not present himself. When we studied the bill, we noticed they had tried to charge us for 2 bottles of wine, despite having only had 1 bottle. By this time the whole restaurant knew we were unhappy as there was a commotion. Eventually they corrected the bill and it came to 54 euros. We wanted to leave as quickly as possible so we left 53.60 euros in cash (all the change we had with us as we didn't wish to leave a card, and twice what the meal was worth!) on the table and walked out. Then the waiter chased us down the street saying we had left them 1 euro short. We said "correct". At this point his final words to us were "you are c**ts/ vous etes des c*ns"! Unbelievable.This may not have enhanced the English reputation in Fleurie, but at least it might help others avoid a disastrous dining experience!Avoid.On etait si en colere avec ce restaurant! Des centaines de diners en France, c'etait le pire. Les repas ne goutaient pas bon; nous ne mangions que la moitie de nos entrees. En place de la dessert, nous avons demande un remboursement. Le serviteur, jeune homme de mauvaise mine, nous a dit que c'etait impossible. "Cherchez le patron" avons nous dit alors. Sans aucune apparence du patron, l'addition est tout d'un coup apparu, reduit par 6 euros; mais...! On a ete charge pour deux bouteilles de vin. Nous n'en avions bu qu'une. Quand l'addition corrige est arrive enfin, tous les clients du restaurant savaient tres bien qu'est-ce qu'y se passait. Quand j'ai dit au serviteur que le client avait toujours raison, il l'a dispute passionnement! N'ayant que 53.60 euros en monnaie, le montant corrige a 54 euros, nous sommes partis, mais soudain poursuivi du jeune serviteur, cherchant 40 cents en plus! Sans succes, il nous a dit "Vous etes des c**s"!Evitez en tous cas!

We stopped late on a Saturday lunchtime, when it appeared the place was winding down; by the time we left it was packed, as others stopped, asked the question (sometiumes very tentatively) and were accomodated on the pleasant patio outside the front of the auberge, in the main square. That included a party of eleven, passing on the off chance like us, but arriving well after two pm.What attracted us were the day's specials, written on the blackboard outside. We were not disappointed - and by the look of the food that passed us on the way to other tables, we'd have done equally well whatever we had chosen. The grenouilles were - as promised - fresh and large, of the type and style I used to see in France twenty five years ago. The coq was well served by its vin. Prices weren't that cheap but were justified. The wines were (of course) great. The (few) staff were everything you would want: friendly, funny, attentive, fast... Oh, this was one of those stops in France you remember for a long time. We're already planning a trip back.
