Since I'm not a fan of chips, I requested a jacket potato with butter instead and had no issue getting it. The battered fish was the best we've had in a while, with beautiful, fresh flakes. The owner mentioned that it had just been delivered at noon, which was evident in the quality. The jacket potato was delicious, as were the chips. The tartare sauce and mushy peas were also great. Everything was perfect. We paid £26 for two generous portions and two diet cokes, and it was definitely worth it. We will definitely return.
Bit of a mixed bag really. First, and very important .... do NOT go here if you have any disability. The toilets are a hard climb up thirteen steps to the upper level. Add to this that there is only a handrail on one side, then if you use a stick to walk you will find either going up or going down a challenge, depending on what hand you use for the stick. Confusingly, there is a stairlift fitted but it doesn't work ! The owner was very helpful, and friendly, and we decided to both go with the fish and chips. The chips were absolutely superb, crisp and properly cooked. The batter for the fish was OK, but the fish itself was pretty tasteless and neither of us ate much of it. It was nearly all left. I think we made the wrong decision on what to eat, as several people came in for the afternoon tea of sandwiches and cakes. These looked absolutely gorgeous, and if the cakes were as good as the ones we had with our coffee there would have been no disappointment. So, as I said ... a bit of a mixed bag. Some stuff was good iike the cakes, but the fish was pretty awful really. Don't know what kind it was, but it certainly didn't taste like cod or haddock. Our biggest challenge was climbing the stairs to the loo, as both of us are slightly disabled. And speaking of the loos ... there was no toilet paper, just a roll of blue paper that the notice on the wall said NOT to put down the toilet.
We have just returned from a fabulous visit to this lovely restaurant. Our afternoon tea was wonderful! Food was great and the waitress was so friendly attentive. We were a last minute booking and the owner was very accommodating. We will definitely be back and will recommend to others. If in Cupar this place is a definite must.
Popped in here earlier for some breakfast and a coffee before my shift with work, ordered a Scottish breaky with a poached egg instead and a cappuccino, breaky was lush cooked to perfection waitress was friendly and polite toilet facilities was OK and the coffee was amazing nice wee cappuccino personally really nice breaky wee bit pricy but I'd return again.
After looking at their website I decided to take my wife a friend out for lunch. The place was very busy with take away food but we were the only people having lunch it was 1pm. We all chose fish chips for myself friend lunch was o.k. except for the chips arriving pre salted by the chef.. I mentioned that it wasn't appropriate as I had high blood pressure would never ask for pre salted chips, she said she would tell the chef. We did not get any feedback from the waitress. The cakes were pretty decent but I think they could give better customer service so I only rated them as average!
