This restaurant has undergone significant changes since the previous owner left. The prices have increased, the sandwiches now come with thinner bread compared to the delicious seeded bread they used to have. It's puzzling why they would change something that was so good before. The soup is still delicious, but the portion size has decreased along with the bread, leaving you feeling hungry. The hot chocolate is also priced the same as Costa, but the quality is not as good. It's disappointing to see the decline in quality for the prices they are charging. We have been loyal customers for years, but we will not be returning. The staff doesn't seem interested in providing good service, and it's sad to see how the restaurant has changed.
I went to the tea house after reading all the great reviews, what a disappointment! The cafe is a bit shabby looking. The staff also were very casual looking, wearing old worn looking joggers and old apron, looked like something I would wear to clean out a cupboard! Didn't inspire! The food was okay, but nothing great. We had two panini's and a couple of soft drinks and were charged nearly £18, which I thought even in today's current situation was well over priced. Won't be back. Much nicer looking cafes in the area that don't charge these prices. Not worth the money.
Having arrived in plenty time for a funeral at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on Friday 29th April a good friend from our art college days in the mid 1950s I popped in for a cup of tea. Actually, I had a bottle of iced fizz in the car, but I like to support small businesses. As I knew I'd be eating later, a slice of bakewell tart was purchased to take home to Dundee. Consumed on Sunday evening, it was like no other bakewell tart I've ever tasted absolutely BRILLIANT. With very pleasant service from the two ladies, I would happily return were it not so far to travel.
We dropped on for lunch yesterday. It was my first visit and what a great cafe this is. We had soup, I had a pastrami sandwich and to top it all the best tea I have had in any Scottish cafe. One of my pet peeves is the rubbish served as tea in most cafes and restaurants so this cafe was a revelation. I recommend this cafe without reserve, especially if you like good tea.
