Yamagoya - Fernie

The Friday before a long weekend and the place was hopping. Friendly greetings at the door and we added ourselves to the waitlist. Service staff are very friendly. Excellent seating in a protected porch that gives you some views of the mountains. We started with some tempura and then a lobster roll and some teriyaki chicken. So delicious.Kid-friendliness: There were a lot of kids coming out while we waited.

I have to assume the food is good as we never managed to eat here. Waited 5-10 minutes for someone to come put us on the wait list, and it never happened: only the server can do it. Atmosphere was LOUD, like.. yell at each other to talk loud, and we were one of two groups at the door only, the second group were told 20 minutes wait for their group of 3 and waited by the bar, which did look well stocked if that's what you want for a sushi experience. We ended up leaving before anyone spoke to us. The food looked great, and from other reviews is, but I can't comment on it (see above). Staff seemed friendly but overworked: either need another server, a host, or another manager.. but the line broke somewhere. Would love to try it next time if the place was a little quieter, and there was proper communication at the door. Went to Sushi wood instead.. it was great.

A very fun experience! We've just recently started getting into sushi and found this place a perfect starter! Very good food and solid service, though it's busy and wait staff seemed to struggle to keep up. Definitely worth a try if you're up for something fun! Prices are not bad at all either!

Extremely fresh, quality ingredients. Amazing service by Anita and delicious cocktails, a must visit when in Fernie.

This restaurant was able to change my opinion about sushi! Now I fell in love with sushi, the waiters were great and we had dinner here two days when we were in Fernie and this restaurant deserves more than 5 stars
