With Bronte Beach a runny sneeze away, beachside brunching doesn’t get much better than this. Named after the kiddie rock pool at Bronte Beach (that, yes, I prefer to swim in than the beach), the Bogey Hole Café has been pleasing the palates of Bronteans for nearly 25 years. It was one of the first cafes to pop up on the now heavily populated strip facing off with the beach.<br/ <br/ The Bogey Hole Café is small, with European-style café chairs and tables spilling out onto the street. While it has plenty of character it’s not trying to be on-trend or anything it’s not. The take-away coffee cups are Plain Jane and there’s no wanky quinoa or kale smoothies in sight. “Thank tomatoes,” sighs the husband. It’s all an ode to Bronte’s age-old village feel.<br/ <br/ The café fare is authentic. I had the full-flavoured BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato), which was served on super fresh sourdough from Iggy’s Bread. While the coffee and tea comes courtesy of Toby’s Estate.<br/ <br/ Overall, it’s a cute spot for eggs and coffee pre-beach with frands.
After grabbing an early wave with what felt like the whole of the eastern suburbs I needed a pick me up. I love the Bronte area and this little cafe stood out to me as I was trekking it back to my car. The cool old decal on the front and a packed morning trade drew me in. <br/ <br/ Managed to score a table outside and continue my appreciation of the the beach while enjoying my second great love coffee. It is a strong blend here, but not bitter and hot enough that you feel like you are actually drinking a traditional coffee, not about to throw down a luke warm coffee infused water. I ordered the B.L.A.T, because the new year new me phase always sleeps in until at least 10 on a Saturday. Lightbulb toasted sourdough, crispy bacon, a smokey mayo that tingles the tongue and lightly fried cherry tomatoes. The one thing about this was the amount of lettuce a little too much that made eating it somewhat harder than it should have been. Other than that this was a great little breakfast joint and honestly the view is stunning. If you are escaping the heat then head up here. They do a few smoothies and juices as well which may be more your taste in the heat
The Bogey Hole Cafe is a small cafe mainly sprawled along the footpath. Holding spectacular views of Bronte Beach in the summer it is a cute spot to sit and have a coffee. The menu held an array of dishes to pick from however it did not wow us to go back a second time.
By far the best scrambled eggs in Bronte!! Always with Turkish toast, but watch out they serve all toast with butter unless you ask them not to! Relaxed casual cafe. Beautiful view of the ocean across the road and usually some outdoor seats available.
