I don't know. as they did not see them. the carpet was also dirty as the toilets. the garden was a complete chaos. the furniture was dangerous, the gras needed cutting, weeds everywhere including nets, and the children's play equipment was shut off from what seemed to be a pub sign. Sunday dinner was very bad. the food was significantly reheated, the cauliflower cheese had become mush. the kartoffels were hard. none of us ate a lot. Such potential. it needs a good deep cleaning. as I said, the staff was nice, just need more effort.
We visited this restaurant on Friday night and were greeted by the lovely owners who were exceptional during our entire visit. We both had a delicious dinner, as well as the house-made cake. I ordered the steak animals, while my wife got the steak stilton, both of which were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The dishes were served with fresh vegetables and a generous amount of gravy. The restaurant did a great job of observing social distancing guidelines. We also enjoyed the company of Duke, the friendly black labrador. Additionally, they offer full facilities for residential properties for only £5 per night, which is a great deal. We would love to visit again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
We went late last Sunday, myself, Vanessa and granddaughter Sophie. We hadn't booked a table but the landlord squeezed us in and we were amazed how covid friendly this place is. Aside of that the hosts were humerous, friendly and so kind. All the staff...were brilliant too. Food was amazing to, all selected from a tick box option selection so you dont have to go up and queue or handle utensils. This place was so good we took my family there again this weekend. Highly recommended
Today was our first day out since pubs and restaurants have been open. The team at the Golden Lion has implemented all the safety requirements to ensure you visit is pleasurable. Upon arrival we put our face masks on and sanitized our hands. We had...to wait to be seated and a brief talk was given to us about the measures which have been put in place. Once at our table we were able to remove our masks. Everything is now table service so we ordered our drinks. We were then given our menu selection sheet so we could order what we wanted from the carvery by ticking our options. The food was then plated up and delivered to us. The food was the usual good quality and even though they were plating it up for us the portions were plentiful. During the hour and a half we were there all the staff were wearing masks/visors and the door handles, place mats etc were sanitized between each sitting. They really have gone above and beyond to make their customers as comfortable as possible to ensure they enjoy their visit. We shall not hesitate to return.
Brit stop with tantalising menu! We stayed overnight in the large car park in our motorhome following a chat with the friendly staff, enjoying a nice ale and great home cooked style pies with a choice of hand carved chips or mash with decent portions...of veg.
