It could be so much better For Portugal/Azores, the prices are almost twice what we have been paying elsewhere on the island. The only exceptional item we had was the flan for dessert. The “catch of the day” was like the size of a tapas with two carrots, one small tomato and one floret of broccoli. All for 25 euros. One liter bottle of still water was 5.50 euros. The service is hard to rate, but we have had no problems elsewhere with English but here, the answer to any question “is this fish caught locally?”, “was the fish caught TODAY “? resulted in a shrug from our waitress. If you do eat here, I’d suggest the pork tenderloin as that had a reasonably sized portion and twice the vegetables. House wine is 6 euros—more than we were paying elsewhere for .5L carafe.

Stayed at the hotel Pedras do Mar for four days- not much choice but to eat here as it is in a remote location. The view is incredible and full view of the ocean and the beautiful pool. The food is not too bad for hotel food. Recommend the clams for an app to start make sure to order with bread and dip in the sauce. I’ve had two soups of the day the zucchini and veg soup (orange is delicious but the cauliflower soup was just okay (I put some of the sauce from the clams in it and it was delicious . For the main course recommend the steak and the fish of the day. Dessert the chocolate mousse was delicious. For the bar food it was alright, the hamburger was pretty good- sao miguel is known for their beef because of the happy cows- recommend the cheese as well for this reason. The broken egg is pretty good too with bacon bits, onions and fries. The service is great they are a bit awkward due to the language barrier but as the days went by their personalities came out a bit and make you feel very welcomed. And of course I recommend the wine- especially the vinho verde. : The shrimp sauce is delicious but only 6 shrimps are given, that’s why I recommend this less for bang for your buck.

We absolutely loved every meal we had in the restaurant whilst staying at Pedras Do Mar! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations on dishes. Every meal was outstanding! It's a disgrace that the prices in this restaurant are more than twice as high as everywhere else in the best locations. Drinks almost 150% more expensive. Food also over 100% expensive. The service only sees the most necessary things. You shouldn't support something like that. This is extreme usury. That's why it's almost always empty because hardly anyone likes to be ripped off like that. There are also cheap, uncomfortable plastic chairs without cushions and plastic tables. One can only hope that the managers will soon lower the prices, regardless of whether they come here. Even hotel guests escape in the evenings to better and cheaper restaurants outside. It's a shame this trickery and this greed. Completely typical of the Azores. Doesn't fit here at all.
