Linda terraza!! Panera MUY pobre. Volvería.
I've been there before and didn't have the best experience, but as the place is nice I gave them another chance. ERROR!! Bad service, the food was not even hot (a risotto, if you know what I mean). Great lemonade at least. The service and...food was that bad that they realized that and made us a discount. But I don't care about it, I care about the experience and time wasted.
I work very close by, so when I invite colleagues for an “informal” business lunch we go here. Nothing at all fancy about the place, but the food is quite good and the atmosphere is friendly. I have run in to people I had introduced...to this resto here in later visits, since they have started frequenting it too! The food ranges from light (salads, sandwiches) to full hot meals. Veggie and vegan possible. Chocolate mousse and tiramisu are dessert faves. If you are in the neighborhood, you could do a lot worse than drop by here.
This place is half a block away from my office, so I lunch there rather often with colleagues and clients. It's a friendly spot, with tables inside downstairs and an upstairs terrace that is nice if it is not too hot out. The menu is...eclectic with salads, sandwiches (including a hot pastrami, otherwise pretty hard to find in Buenos Aires, but do not expect NY deli quality), and lot of main course choices. I usually go for the Fish of the Day or the mushroom risotto, although the shredded barbecue pork is nice if you are particularly hungry. The desserts are good, especially the chocolate mousse and tiramisu. In all, quite recommendable!
I've to La Esperanza more than a couple of times. Always in the afternoons. I've had their coffee, their lemonade, their iced tea with mint and lemon, pudding, brownie....the everything was always very good. For MY personal taste, however, the drinks were a bit too...sugary. The staff was always kind, nothing exaggerated, I guess welcoming and warm enough, the place is charming, downstairs, outside and upstairs...almost dreamlike, there are trees on the sidewalk, and their crown are tall enough to reach and go over the terrace, so in a warm afternoon it is a delight to be up there in the vintage terrace, reading a book or sharing a campari with a friend in a relatively quiet neighborhood, between the sun and shade from the trees just chilling. It is one of my places in the hood. Calm, homelike, good food and drinks, warm staff....
