Eating here is a must every time I 'm visiting Fauske. If you want to try something traditional from the region, I 'd recommend you try the Møsprømlefse . It 's what I get every time I 'm here! Delicious! Get it with all the fillings, for the truly authentic taste.
Whatever you do; don't even consider the Grill-menu. Came by train to Fauske, and went to the Railway Kafé with my wife and two small children, and whilst this place is apparently known for great traditional norwegian food – stay clear of the grill-menu. When we went there, we weren't really hungry for meatcakes or boiled cod, so when I saw the grill-menu with hamburgers and kids meal, I went for it instantly. Me and the wife got the most disgusting tastless burgers we've ever set our teeth in, with overcooked fries. And whilst it at least looked good, I can't say as much for the kids meal... A single, large hotdog, which was slightly pale and green-ish, with a siding of the same overcooked fries on a plate. That's it, no greens, no nothing. Everyone left slightly queasy and unsatisfied. To summarize: if you want a traditional Norwegian meal, this is most likely a great place. But go elsewhere if you're craving a burger.
Serves traditional homemade norwegian food with a few daily dishes. Also serves the very local speciality møsbrømlefse which is one of my favorites. This place is fairly popular among locals wanting a traditional dinner.
Take a dive into the late 80's! A diner/cantina that serves traditional Norwegian food.
