A Alentejana - Faro

Was looking for lunch while waiting for the train in Bon joao. Ran into this place just by chance. Todays menue had a octopus with sweet potatoes. Lucky me, i love octopus but i would not choose sweet potatoes to go with it. WRONG, it was super! Serve with a salad of onion, tomato and lettuc e, this was a jem! Get there, i liked the feel of the place, friendly forgiving when it comes to my attempts to speak Portoguese.

I spent quite a few happy hours celebrating my birthday in this traditional bar/restaurant. I had no intention of staying or even eating here but, as it was pouring with rain and situated next to my Airbnb apartment, it made for an obvious first port of call. The restaurant was packed to capacity at lunchtime but I received a very friendly welcome from the hosts Mariete and Josi and a table was found for me. The chef, Consieau, rustled up a huge serving of one of their dishes of the day, which was quite delicious. The generous portion size meant that there was sufficient left to take away. If the elements had been kinder, I probably wouldn't have entertained coming here but I'm jolly pleased I did!
