Calvin is very personable and fun to talk to while he cooks up your burgers. And to top it all off the prices were dirt cheap for the quality you get. I'm putting Bo's on the top of my burger recommendation list. P.S. ask for the Calvin sauce, it's great
Bo's Spuds and Burgers is one of the most unassuming places one could find, even for Farmers Branch. Tucked away in a strip center, just west of the intersection of Valley View and Josey Lanes, you will find them on the southside of Valley View between a donut shop and an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting location. The inside is as unassuming as the outside is. Apparently they are undergoing a bit of a re-model as well, so know that when you walk in, things seem a bit out of sort. The service was friendly and a relatively quick. More efficient and quick, than friendly, but not unfriendly by any other means. The food was pretty decent, but not great. The burger was fresh and the the patty was handmade, a step above what I expected to find. My biggest disappointment with my meal was that my fries were lukewarm at best when they were served. Overall, not a bad experience at all, and I will give them an updated review at that time.
So this is a simple little spot in a strip mall about 1/2 a block off the main road. They had Frito pie baked potatoes which seemed wrong not to try. It was what you'd expect and provides a certain comfort hearkening back to childhood concoctions. My associate had a burger which looked good. I'd go ahead if I had a hankering for a baked potato while in the area.
Enjoyed our visit to Bo 's Spuds Burgers on Valley View near Josey Ln. last weekend and want to share the good things happening there. 5 star food quality, value friendliness. Minus a star off for atmosphere, but suspect that will be improved soon. The baked potato I had, the Ranch Potato, was delicious and creative, unlike any potato I 've had before and better than Jason 's Deli. Boyfriend loved his hamburger but was not a big fan of the breaded fries...which I thought were awesome and he still finished off. To bread or not to bread. ; If you haven 't been lately, give the new owners a try. It 's classic case of new owners who recently purchased a failing restaurant. Their son moved from New York to help with upgrading the food and revitalizing the energy. He 's made tremendous strides improving creativity of the menu and elevating food quality. Ask about his special 'secret ' sauce. He clearly loves the art and science of cooking and will happily share with you his future plans and experiments. The atmosphere still needs work. It 's definitely hole-in-the-wall with a Frankenstein of flooring, fixtures decor. If you want a nicer view, get take-out and drive a couple blocks to Gussie Field Watterworth Park. They have a couple of TVs so you won 't miss out on sports or your favorite show. And, if you 're into gaming, they 'll even set one TV on a gamers channel.
Mediocre food at best. Had a bunless burger with the fixings on the side lettuce, tomato and onion. The burger is super thin (like the frozen kind in a box available at any grocery store) and the fixings were meager. There are MUCH better places to go for tastier, higher quality food at the same or even lower price. The HUGE problem I had with this place is that it's dirty. After ordering, we sat down and I really took the time to look around. Nothing here looks like it's been cleaned in some time. I won't be back.
