We bought a pork pie, chourico pie, chicken pie, and a couple of stuffed quahogs, to go (of course, there is no dine in), All the cooked pork pies were sold out on this particular Saturday at noon, so we bought one of the frozen ones with detailed information on cooking at home. That was the first one we (our family of four) baked and devoured, and it was excellent, with no fat meat, not ground too fine, with an excellent crust: just what we remembered from our time spent many years ago in Fall River, and just what we wanted. <br/ <br/ The chicken pie was amazing, all white meat, nice and moist and again with the perfect crust and perfect light seasoning, The chourico pie was just outstanding with ground chourico meat, not too spicy, with a mouthwatering aroma out of our warming microwave. There seems to be no additives, or peas and carrots or other ingredients to these pies, just all lean, delicious meats. <br/ <br/ The stuffed quahogs were a little disappointing, though, as they were sold in paper cups rather that the traditional shells (which is not really a big deal). But we did find them a little over spiced, and with a too creamy consistency.<br/ <br/ Price wise these pies are a bargain with the 6 serving 9' pies sold at $6.50 each, and the smaller two or three serving pies for $4,50. The stuffies were $2.00 apiece.
In the late 1800 's, Fall River Massachusetts was the busiest textile-manufacturing city in the United States. The high demand for skilled mill workers brought many immigrants from Ireland and England to Fall River, the 'we 'll try ' city (yes, that 's actually their motto). They brought with them their love of meat pies, which were cheap, filling, and most importantly, portable. Hartley 's Original Pork Pies on 1729 South Main St., Fall River (not to be confused with Hartley 's Pork Pies in Lincoln, R.I., or Hartley 's in Somerset, MA) has been baking and serving English style meat pies since 1900. Their pork pies boast a generous portion of well-seasoned lean ground pork enhanced by a meaty broth, all encased in a buttery, flakey golden brown crust. Made fresh daily with pure ingredients, Hartley 's pork pies have an incredibly clean and fresh taste. Sam 's Bakery is located at 256 Flint St. and serves fresh Lebanese and Syrian baked goods. The first thing you notice at Sam 's is the crowd, th
This will always be my favorite place to get Meat Pie. Although, every pie they make is absolutely delicious. I've been coming to this same bakery since I was a small child. Then I would start taking my son. My son now 16, requested, solely a whole Buffalo Chicken Pie for his birthday. And he did get it. Thank you for that Lastly, the price, it can't be beat. I highly suggest you stop by and pick one up for dinner or for your next party.
Always loved Hartley the chourice pies are the best .. the small ones than the meat pies also the small ones are way better. It's not cheap not crazy either but bring ur wallet!! Delicious!!
Old school family run pie shop. You can get one person pie, or a family pie. Staff are very nice. The Chouriço pie was delicious . The pork pie only has salt and pepper for seasoning, but still tasty.
