New Merlin Chinese Takeaway - Falkirk

I used to go to Merlin a lot on Saturdays. When I was craving Chinese food, my mom and dad also enjoyed the food. However, the last few times the food was just average and lukewarm when it arrived. Tonight's experience really turned me off. My mom called to place an order and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes max. I waited over an hour and still no meal. When I called to inquire about the delay, I was told it was on its way. Twenty minutes later, I called to cancel the order and requested for them to notify the driver not to make the delivery. All I got was a nonchalant "no problem" without even an apology. Therefore, I will not be returning to Merlin.

The chicken curry fried rice was heavy and seemed like it had been reheated. The barbecued spare ribs I ordered were fatty and lacked barbecue sauce.

We have ordered from this takeaway before and the food was good, hot, and delivered on time. However, we ordered last Friday at 6:45 pm and were told delivery would take 45 minutes. The delivery did not arrive by 8:00 pm, so we called and were told it was on its way. We called again at 8:15 pm and were once again told the food was on its way. After calling again at 8:30 pm, we were told the same thing. The food eventually arrived at 8:40 pm. When I asked the delivery person about the delay, they seemed uninterested. I usually tip, but due to the delays, I decided not to on this occasion. The delivery driver tried to walk away without offering my change, but I pointed it out and took my change. To make matters worse, the food was cold and the chips were inedible. What a waste of money. I understand that Fridays are busy, but aside from that, I was not happy with the delay and will never use this takeaway again. My advice to New Merlin would be to be honest about delivery times to avoid losing customers and getting bad reviews.

We use the New Merlin regularly, the food is always fresh, tasty and quickly prepared, exactly what you want from a takeaway! The tea time specials are great value fantastic!

Used this place over the years so decided when I wanted a carry out recently would use it again. always choose the same food from what ever Chinese carry out place I am using, this was by far the poorest tasteing carry out I have had in a while. Chicken sweetcorn soup, crispy chilli chicken and fried rice. Soup had no taste to it at all, chilli chicken again lacked any taste eventually found some chilli but it was all very poor. Sorry to say wont use the new Merlin again.
