He pays under the table which means he pays us whenever he sees fit not weekly as was promised during hiring. When you bring this up to him he gets angry at us like we’re the problem for asking for our pay. I’ve witnessed him stealing tips from the servers up front he’ll hide the receipt in the stack of receipts and staple them together so that we’re unable to access the receipt to see the tip amount. He is never there in the mornings which is difficult when vendors are dropping supplies off expecting payments but he’s not in. Overall waiting weeks for pay was why I had to leave and the verbally abusive environment on top of that just made the job not worth it anymore
I love this place but recently I have been disappointed as the portion sizes went down and the prices went up. I wouldn’t mind paying the prices if the size and quality was how it used to be.
Today, my fiance' and myself decided to go to Arosso, touch of Italy Italian restaurant. When we lived in the area, we could only eat here, because of Celiac's disease. It's probably been close to two years since we have been here, and were looking forward to this as a treat. Upon ordering I was a little taken back by the new extreme shrink-flated prices. But I also understand that they need to make a living too. So if the food is worth it, then it's not a problem. We ordered a GF ham and cheese stromboli and a GF Chicken Quesadilla with fries. The stromboli was 32.00 and the quesadilla was 16.00. When I say there was two bites of ham and 4 bites with cheese in little more than half of the stromboli, I'm being extremely generous. I wrote this review from an exact point of view and not my opinion on the situation. You be the judge!, I must warn you, the pictures are very graphic! Would you pay 50.00 for these two items? When we asked the person inside, she said we got exactly what we are supposed to get. Personally I would have been embarrassed to hand this food to my customers. Update: the picture of the Stromboli is of the middle section. The ends were all dough and then just some cheese for a couple of inches. I went to Weis market and bought the new GF wheat flour. I made a pretzel stromboli with ham and cheese. Fresh mozzarella cheese from the cheese area of the deli and fresh chopped ham. The ham was Kreshmar off the bone masterpiece ham. The total it cost me was just under 15.00 in materials for high end products. Which leads me to believe there was less than 10.00 invested into my dinner that night at Arosso. With a 33% x 3 rule for restaurants. That means at 33.00 for a stromboli, 11.00 for materials, 11.00 for labor and 11.00 for profit is the goal. You be the judge? If I could make it bigger, better, with higher end products. I know these must be very profitable. I will add photos of homemade strombolis, next time I make them, to show the difference between what we use to receive here and what we get now. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free dining
An overall disappointing experience. To spend nearly $60 on bland food is one of the most annoying things to experience but to have it be bland and a laughably small serving size is adding insult to injury. On one hand, I applaud them for recognizing their food’s shortcomings and not loading you up on food that will inevitably be wasted. On the other hand, it was $60 and if you’re going to charge me that much then you either have to deliver with excellent food and a small portion size or bland food with incredibly large portion. This place does neither. I won’t be returning and neither will the two people I shared the takeout with. On another note, I’ve seen the owner justifying the extra charge for gluten free food. I get it, gluten-free does force an establishment to raise their prices by a few dollars. That’s common sense. But to raise your small sandwich by $8 for this allergy is highway robbery and absolutely, unequivocally taking advantage of those who are gluten-sensitive. There’s a plethora of other reasonably priced establishments that offer gluten-free options that won’t gouge you. Go visit them if you are gluten-free.
Tried this place solely for the GF menu for my daughter, she was happy to have a calzone which was just ok, but our GF bar is low, my ribeye salad was disappointing, so much gristle, cut in big thick slabs, 2 house salads no dressing choice, and my other daughter’s entree-Pasta ala Penne(? was completely not as described and not good, but were told it was correct, service was just ok-they werent busy at all….maybe its a better pizza place.
