Sam's Original Resturant Bbq

Great service and yummy bread. Unfortunately the BBQ dishes did a number on our stomachs. We think it was the ribs because they smelled odd and didn’t taste good. We only had a little, but apparently that was enough. Made for a unpleasant ride to Dallas (with lots of pit stops).

Had a table of 3 young men sitting behind my husband and I. There were 2 other tables next to us that had children at their tables. One of the young men was very loud vocally, telling a story, generally appearing like he wanted to be heard by all. And we did. Not a big deal except every other word was eff this, eff that etc. Very unpleasant to dine in that environment. I walked over, asked the young man to be mindful of the children when speaking. He said I was rude and it was none of my business. I requested to speak to a manager on my way out. Tammy was on duty. Apparently I interfered with her dinner because she had zero time to listen to my complaint. Guess she was afraid her dinner would get cold. She said what do you want me to do, I can't control people talking. No Tammy, you can control noise level and maybe act on a customer complaint. Nope, cannot. About that time the offender walks out to leave. Looks like Tammy can go back to her dinner, I don't ever have to return for more burnt fried chicken off the buffet and the offender MAYBE took what I said to heart for his next restaurant invasion.

Staff is friendly, buffet is well stocked, food is ok. Expected a few more choices for the price, but would stop here again.

I would not recommend this place. Upon arrival I was harassed by an elderly couple asking if I had a ID for parking in the veteran parking spot. It is overpriced at $18.99 for buffet and about $3.79 for a drink. The food was not great, there were gnats flying over the fruit on the salad bar. The dessert bar was a mess, apple pie slices were broken to nearly crumbs on each plate, the coconut cream pie texture was like jello and the banana pudding looked like a science project. Overall the food was not as good as people are claiming and definitely not worth the price. This place is old and the lights are dim. It looks depressing. If you want a hot meal stop here but if you want a good meal please pass this place up.
