Bistro Du Vin - Exeter

We were gifted a champagne afternoon tea for two at HDV, so we decided to stay at the hotel and turn it into a weekend getaway. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and shown to our standard room, which, while on the smaller side, was nicely decorated and furnished. Breakfast, though not particularly impressive with slow table service and limited options, was still satisfactory. The champagne afternoon tea was the highlight, with delicious treats and some unique twists. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable mini vacation.

During our stay at Hotel du Vin Exeter, we dined at the Bistro for dinner. We started with a shared platter before I enjoyed the flavorful Navarin of Lamb, accompanied by perfectly cooked rice. It was a lighter option after a day of exploring the city, and my partner loved the Salmon Fishcake, also full of flavor. The restaurant had a bustling atmosphere, and Jake took excellent care of us for the evening, ensuring we had everything we needed and recommending the delightful 'Baked Alaska' dessert. The Bistro is located under a modern dome, creating a bright and airy space with a wall of glass offering views of the well-kept garden. The semi-open kitchen adds to the sense of space. While we appreciated the setting, those seeking a more intimate and romantic atmosphere may not find it here. Overall, we felt the meal was a great value for the quality of the food, the lively ambiance, and the exceptional service.

The service was incredible and the spa day in the afternoon was exceptional! I would highly recommend this place!

Today, we celebrated Mycah's and Reuben's special occasion at this restaurant and we were impressed by the excellent service. Everything was taken care of without any issues. The food was delicious, plentiful, and well worth the price. Thank you for making this an unforgettable experience.
