Hawaiian Sun Bbq - Everett

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and have never had a bad experience. A Hawaiian friend of mine highly recommended the food here, and after trying it, I can see why. Today, I tried the mochiko chicken and was impressed by how moist the chicken was with a crispy, light coating. Many other local places tend to overdo it with batter and oil, but this chicken was just right. Even an hour later at home, it was still crunchy. I also ordered a large bowl of Saimin soup with wonton, which was flavorful without being too salty. Additionally, I had noodles with sweet, tender pieces of kalbi beef. I typically don't enjoy fried noodles, but these were surprisingly good.

The chicken dish I ordered was mostly batter with a tiny, dry piece of chicken. The shrimp fried rice had raw shrimp in it, and the mac and cheese was inedible - just mayonnaise with bits of shredded carrot. The side sauce served with the chicken was watery and overly sweet. The restaurant's attempted Hawaiian decor was tacky, and it was clear that this was a confused Chinese-Japanese establishment. This place should be shut down, as it is a disservice to Hawaiian cuisine.

I always order the BBQ Chicken at this restaurant because it's deliciously moist. I also enjoy the Mac salad and always ask for extra, as well as order an extra spam musubi. I highly recommend this place for its amazing food. Food rating: 5/5.
