27 Live - Evanston

Ambiance: 27 Live features a rock and roll theme that lends itself well to a nice dinner or date night. The space includes a whiskey bar, a lounge, and an entertainment area, all separate from the dining room. I've visited twice, and both times there were only 1-2 other tables filled, with about 2 servers on staff. This creates a comfortable and serene dining experience. Food: On my first visit, I had the grilled salmon, and on my second, I enjoyed steak and potatoes. We also shared a salad, a goat cheese appetizer, and a peach cobbler for dessert. While we found the food to be good, it didn't stand out as exceptional. However, I believe this restaurant ranks among the best in Evanston for food quality. Their menu changes seasonally, and the summer offerings are notably more affordable, which I appreciated as it matched the restaurant's vibe—more of an upscale bar/pub than a fine-dining establishment with $30 meals. For vegetarians, there are plenty of appealing options. Service: Our waitress was welcoming and very attentive to our food preferences. She answered all of our questions and accommodated our requests with ease.

My husband and I had an absolutely delightful dinner at 27 Live the other night. We kicked things off by sharing the chestnut gnocchi, and honestly, I wish we hadn’t shared—I could have eaten the whole dish by myself! David ordered the vegetable pot pie, while I opted for the meatloaf Wellington. Both meals were incredibly tender and absolutely delicious. Even though we were quite full, we couldn’t resist dessert. We shared the butterscotch panna cotta and dulce de leche gelato, which were both so incredible that I found myself wishing I had kept one all to myself. The service was exceptional—friendly and perfectly paced. We’re bringing some friends with us this Saturday night, and I can’t wait to return! This restaurant was a wonderful surprise. We also checked out the cozy whiskey bar and plan to visit it next time. I’m excited to experience the music there as well!

The food is incredible, and the music is fantastic! Without a doubt, this is the trendiest and most enjoyable spot to celebrate in Evanston! I give 27 Live two thumbs up!
