Johnny Ocean's Grille - Eugene

My experience was so positive and good! The service was good, the food was good! The atmosphere was fun! What a nice break when it is raining! I felt like I was in Hawaii!

We scored a living social deal for Johnny Ocean's (1/2 price works for me). The atmosphere is very relaxed with a casual feel. I ordered a blackened salmon salad which was good, except I substituted blue cheese for Italian dressing and they served what must have been low-fat or non-fat blue cheese dressing that tasted really bad. The waiter was busy with other tables, so I just had to go without. My guest enjoyed a rice dish off the specials, that looked really good.

The owner always makes me feel welcome and is a delight to talk to. He serves classic, sure-to-please burgers, sandwiches, and some specialty items- good for family outings or dates. His is among the cleanest restaurants I've ever been to and one can view the kitchen area from the dining area. A big plus.

Food was good but the service was so poor (not slow, more along the lines of menu dropped on table, what do you want, here it is, now leave . I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. Too bad, we were on vacation and it was our 20th anniversary.

We just stopped in for a quick lunch and thought the menu was a little over priced. I tried the grilled portabella mushroom sandwich and it was pretty good and very big. It's a great location right next to lots of shopping.
