Bar & Restaurante A Talha - Estremoz

A Talha has traditional Portuguese cuisine in a cozy setting surrounded by giant wine jars. The traditional prato do dia is from $9-11 Euros, includes a jarafe of house wine, often with the ubiquitous batatas fritas (homemade). I had the best pork of my entire month long trip to Portugal. Other dishes including grilled sardines (in season) were equally wonderful. The waiter is very helpful and will adjust to your needs. No tourists, easy parking as you come in through the gate by the bullring.

There's nothing fancy about this restaurant. When we visited, a bunch of local lads were watching the football on TV and having a great time. At one point the electricity failed and everything went dark. However, two things stand out. The welcome was extremely friendly. And we enjoyed a huge steak, that was cooked to perfection, helped down by some red wine from Borba. A memorable meal.

Excelente descoberta pelo Google. Almoçamos no fim de semana passado, pois estivemos no Camping Alentejo acompanhados por amigos Franceses, e ficámos encantados com A TALHA. O cozido, as bochechas, o arroz de polvo e o pernil estavam excelentes. Parabéns para o companheiro autocaravanista. Antonio Simões
