La Carbonara - Essoyes

Did not stay to sample food as the reception we received as British people in a French restaurant was very poor.

We visited this restaurant for lunch on a warm Sunday afternoon. Three generations of my family including the youngest aged 8. We were given a very friendly welcome and it was clear that this is a family run restaurant that caters very much for families. The menu was extensive, and my wife struggled to decide on her meal as everything on the menu sounded appetising. Th food was delicious and very nicely presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our unhurried lunch.

Nice little restaurant, friendly family run. Had a great pizza and the desert home made. Would definitely return.

We were in Essoyes to see the former home of Renoir (opened June 2017). Having seen the Exposition (next to the Mairie) before lunch we then needed to eat before visiting his house when it reopened for the afternoon. Wandering around the village we found La Carbonara, which was busy a good sign and decided to eat there. The lady serving us was friendly and efficient. We were very quickly served with her plat du jour which was very tasty, and tarte aux pommes also very good. It was good value and the next time we are in Essoyes we shall hopefully return there.

Welcome to the best pizza in this area. The little terrace is hidden behind the Essoyes church. Always full of happy people enjoying their meal. Service is quick and friendly. Pizza brule geule for the lovers of a spicy one! Wine is good. The village is worth a visit!
