North Ridge Dairy Freez - Essex

The Dairy Freeze is a longtime establishment that has been a favorite for generations. I remember going there as a child and now I bring my grandchildren. The menu is extensive and all the food tastes homemade. They have car hops so you can enjoy your meal without leaving your vehicle, but there are also plenty of seating areas if you prefer to dine in. Their ice cream is even better than Dairy Queen's. I love the fact that this place has remained unchanged for many years. It's a tradition for my family, as it is for many others.

This is not only the best ice cream place about but it also has some very good, basic, food. This place is a classic historic local food institution. There are places to eat picnic style outdoors or indoors or, just like when we were young,...like a Drive In--in your car. No pretense, just good service, good basic food and wonderful ice cream. Try it..You'll luv it!

I went for a late snack and ice cream... I'm never disappointed with my visits.... The food is good, delivered fast and I like the picnic atmosphere.

Another local place that gets taken for granted. Worth the stop when driving around Essex County. You can pull up in your car and eat in your car, or walk around back to a welcoming eating area. Dairy Freez has the old style '50s diner appeal to it almost. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. A stop here is a must!

Went for a visit to this ice cream shop over the weekend with the wife and kids. We visit here every year. They have an extensive menu which includes your average burger joint fare. I've never tried anything except for the soft serve ice cream which is always fantastic and priced reasonably. I always take family and freinds there for the ice cream. I always get the largest cone. For $3.50 it's huge. Also you can have your cone dipped in nuts and chocolate for around .25cents for one item and up to .40 cents for both. They have a large eating area and a landscaped grounds to enjoy. One tip is to bring cash as this is the only accepted method of payment. But they do have an atm on location. Not sure of the fees. The place is always busy. Waitresses are on hand to take your order at your car if you choose to eat in your car. I believe they bring your food carside.
