La Tapatia Restaurant - Escondido

What a fabulous find!!! My husband and I travel from Phoenix a few times a year to visit family. We stopped in for a couple drinks and food. We were so impressed from the minute we were greated at the door. Everyone was so gracious and welcoming. It felt as though we had been coming for years. We haven't, but it is from now on a neccessary stop.

I do NOT recommend this restaurant. We were seated and did not have a waitress or anyone come to us we were there for 20 minutes. I asked who I thought was the host if we could get some help and she let me know she was the Owner and gave me some excuses. She told me we would be served as we were seated. We decided to leave saw the couple that was sat AFTER us already had their drinks and food. BAD service! I will never go here again!

For the quality of the food i felt like it was way over priced. The kids chicken tenders were just 3 giant chicken nuggets. The carne asada was unseasoned and very small portion. The ceviche also had no seasoning or flavor. And the albondiga soup was way too salty ??‍ whatever they changed with their recipes they need to change it back

The service was great... everyone was very nice. The reason for the one star is that the food is very very bland. It was my mine and my husbands first time coming here and we were very excited because we love to try different Mexican restaurants but as soon as we got our food we were very disappointed.

Wait staff was very nice and friendly. They were working very hard with the little staff they have.The food was not authentic at all. The salsa was gross. Food didn’t have flavor. If you want authentic Mexican food don’t come here.Drinks were good though.
