Our favorite breakfast spot in erie. Order the breakfast calzone for takeout, so good.
What a beautiful surprise! Your breakfast is absolutely amazing, they serve your standard fare like Scrambles and Omelets, but with striking touches like their homemade jams, Flatbreads (remove the Flatbread! and Desserts. A somewhat exotic turn, like the carrot jam with rose water and cardamom (I had to ask what was in it, creates a unique culinary experience. I've eaten three times and not disappointed yet. It always surprises me how many restaurants something simple mangle, such as scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. Not like Briggs Street. I usually steer everything I feel to make better at home (like eggs, but in this case her cook has hit me on taste and quality. I never knew something was as simple as a cheesestorm could taste so amazing. They also make some exotic/complicated dishes (Lebanese, I think I've heard are pretty good, but I never tried. The owner is very friendly and their prices are reasonable. Their location can be difficult to find (side street entrance with stairs down to their front door, and I hope they stay Erie is long overdue for a good meal.
This place is a hidden gem, and I honestly thought I didn't write this review to try to keep everything for ourselves! But...that it is said that this place is AMAZING!!!! The menu is typical diner fare, eggs, hashbrowns, burgers etc., all very good and well worth it on their own, but they also have some Persian dishes that are for dying. I can honestly say that was one of the best meals I had in a restaurant in a long time. Special today was basmati rice with fava beans, dill and saffron, served with a perfect piece of salmon (or chicken) a side homemade yogurt with cucumber and radishes, a cup of vegetables with homemade vinegar dressing (and when I say homemade I mean, the owner makes the vinegar from scratches) and some different sauteed vegetables. It was all very fresh, tasty and satisfying. They also serve traditional flat bread with some amazing homemade jams. Plum peach Jalepeno, apple chili, watermelon and rose petals are a sampling of the 15 different species they make. They also sell them on the glass, we went with six glasses, two for us and four for friends and family. The place is very small, has amazing coffee, and the general atmosphere is perfect. The owner is a big guy, fun and interesting to talk, highly recommended to sit at the bar and talk while the food is made. All about great experience. We decided that every time we get in, we will order everything that is special. Make yourself a favor and get there as soon as you can!
Absolutely wonderful little cafe! This place is a wonderful jewel!!! The food is excellent the service is amazing!!! If you want a quiet personal experience, this is the place!
