Pavilion Cafe - Erewash

Wasnt like this the last time we visited Highfields 25 years ago. Today weds 17th april 2019 its a very modern place. loads of tables and seating indoors and out. Good choice of drinks plus scones bacon sarnies etc. Prices were ok

I have visited this restaurant a few times and I am disappointed with the service. The staff seems unhappy and does not care about making guests happy. On a hot summer day with temperatures reaching 30 degrees, I asked for cold coffee drinks multiple times and was rudely told they do not serve cold beverages. When I requested a glass full of ice to pour my coffee over, I had to ask twice as they only provided me with two ice cubes at a time, which I found to be inadequate. Despite returning and making the same request again, I received the same response. It appears that the staff is not making an effort to improve and satisfy customers.

We went in for a bottle of water and spotted some delicious looking scones as we waited to pay. Asked a man behind the counter if we could have one and he “only deals with hot drinks”?! Seems odd all he needed to do was grab a scone!! Then when paying asked for the scone, and this man couldn’t do it either!! Finally the ‘scone trained lady’ was able to serve us, we wanted it to take away, and it was literally handed to us in our hand, no bag or anything. Very strange!!

I have visited this cafe on many occasions. The food on offer is ok not brilliant and the scones tend to be on the dry side. I do wish the staff could be a little more upbeat, a smile even would help.On the plus side it is always very clean and tidy. Beware of sitting near the opening door on a cool day! It is very handy for either before a performance or visiting the gallery to have a drink. However, there is often a lack of seats when it is very busy.

Hello. Today, we took a walk at High Fields and stopped at the cafe for our usual latte and scone with cream and jam. It was delicious until we tried the jam. The jam is now in a paper pot instead of the small jars it used to be in. It doesn't taste the same and lacks the quality of the old jars. This change honestly ruined the experience for us. The cafe has been renovated and it looks great. But we would really appreciate it if they brought back the small jars of jam.
