He had received good feedback about Smoke House BBQ from some gringo ex-pats and wanted to give the place a try. The restaurant is new and fresh. The owner/manager of Smoke House, and his staff, are personable and professional. We experienced excellent service across the board. The décor of the restaurant is plain and functional. There is a small patio outside with tables, but the view of the street is nothing special. The menu offers a range of American barbecue including ribs, BBQ chicken and pulled pork. My friend and I ordered the BBQ platter for two which consisted of BBQ ribs, chicken and pork. This selection was a disappointment. The pork ribs were dry and lean... and good meat on the bone was scarce. Both the BBQ chicken and pork portions were shredded. IMO, the chicken should have been left on the bone, and the pork should have been pulled from the bone instead of run through shredder. The meat barely had taste, was dry, and overall not very appetizing. I provided the manager with some honest feedback on his food. I believe part of the problem is that the barbecue is not prepared in a wood smoker, but rather an electric one. I think this is at least part of the reason that a true smoked barbecue texture and taste cannot be replicated at this restaurant. The price for this meal for two came to COP$ 48,000 $25.50 US) without the drinks. IMO, it was more expensive than an authentic Sonny 's BBQ in the US, and not worth the price. Will I go back? Probably not.
¡Gran conexión de barbacoa!
