Old Ground - Ennis

I dined at this restaurant for lunch and though I did not stay at the hotel, I had an excellent dining experience.

We had a terrific stay at the Old Ground. It’s in a great location and has such a cozy vibe. We were unexpectedly upgraded and were thrilled as it was the last night of our trip and we needed the extra floor space to rearrange our luggage. We chose this location due to its proximity to the airport but also loved our night out in town as it felt very local but welcoming. The staff were terrific. We had a slight issue with our air conditioner but given the late hour and that we were only staying one night, reception provided a fan instead and that worked out great. I was worried about parking and it was full when we got there but, luckily someone pulled out just as we pulled in. We ended our night with some drinks at Poets and enjoyed the staff and atmosphere there as well. Thank you so much for such a great stay! It was a wonderful way to end our trip.

Old ground indeed..... familiar in a way that claims loyalty and earns the custom of the returning patron. This place is proud of it's history and they carefully maintain the traditional and classic idiosyncrasies that pop up and surprise you around the site and throughout the interior. The robust character of the castle like buildings provide the staff with confidence and their team are great ambassadors for the hotel. The food is high quality and portions are large.... everywhere is spotless, the staff are exceedingly hospitable and the value for money is very good. Very popular though. Been here a few times and it's always packed.... however, this didn't cause any lengthy wait for service or food, they can handle busy... but I do suggest booking a table if your intended meal sitting and your guests are important to you.

Just ate in the bar with family including one very irate 18 month old. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and understanding. Food was excellent. Will definitely be back

I highly recommend this restaurant. The service is exceptional, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. It never fails to impress.
