Potato Shack Cafe - Encinitas

I've been coming here for years, although it's been 20 years since my last visit. The foods still great and priced well, I will say they have down sized to my surprise. The only complaint that I can make it their lack of being tech savvy and offering credit cards, it's 2021. Come on Jim.

Love this place! Great food and service. They serve large portions, and food is always fresh.

First time at this popular beachside breakfast diner the pancakes were manhole sized pancakes which can easily be shared with two to three people. They are huge! The potatoes were delicious. The omelette was done very well and so tasty. The surprising winner of the morning was the TOAST not the French toast just the toast) we got an order of sour dough and wheat toast and it was off the charts amazing not expecting that at all. I would go there just to get a piece of toast. With regard to the other toast we ordered the French kind French toast was not good. Orange juice was not good. Also CASH ONLY! There’s an ATM inside the restaurant so it’s convenient. Service was excellent we had a great server!!!

Sausage n Cheese Omelette, American frits and extra crispy English muffin... perfectly roasted. Oh and there homemade salsa is SO GOOD. I think I ate all the glass.

If you ever get a hankering for some good breakfast food, look no further. These were genuinely some of the best biscuits gravy I have ever had (sorry Nana! . The pancakes genuinely are manhole covers (see my picture of the chocolate chip one with a fork for scale ! My boyfriend and I split the country fried steak with a half order of biscuits gravy, along with the aforementioned monster pancake. Everything was incredibly tasty, the pancake was cooked thoroughly and the chocolate chips were nicely distributed. The country fried steak was not breaded to hell and had a very nice flavor. The prices are honestly incredible for the amount of food, even though we shared, we had to take some home (probably good for our health . The staff are incredibly welcoming and polite. I can 't wait to go back and get more.
