I have visited Zisters three times and tried three different vegan dishes. The food is delicious and the staff has been extremely accommodating each time. They offer vegan options such as vegan egg, vegan cheese, and vegan sausage. I had all three in my herbivore bowl, replacing the animal products. The portions are generous.
This is my go-to brunch place to bring friends, as they offer a wide variety of options that cater to everyone's preferences. Personally, I enjoy the cinnamon French toast and the portobello melt with vegan cheese. I was not a fan of the beignets, as they are traditionally covered in powdered sugar in New Orleans but here they are lightly dusted. The cocktails are great, and they also offer delicious coffee and lattes with vegan milk options.
I had a tofu scramble. It was literally scrambled block of tofu without any seasonings served with a side of dry toast and a small bowl of fruit that included a tomato (technically a fruit but not usually served with melon). I’ve always thought tofu scrambled was a safe bet, but not here. Told the waitress it was inedible and she just said she would let the owners know…thankfully I still got to pay for this plate terrible food I didn’t eat. Also, several dishes were labeled vegan but had cheese or honey.
I generally don't like to post negative reviews of restaurants but this was a big disappointment for us. Our waiter was either very new or easily distracted. We had to ask for water and coffee more than once. We were served beignets that had a feight hot peppery taste to them. When we reported that to our server he dissappeared to the kitchen and came back with the suggestion that maybe some of the seasoning for their hot chicken had gotten accidentally dropped into the beignet. I think it more likely was cooked in the wrong oil. the server did not ask if he could get a fresh batch for us and we were charged for them. I've never ordered an acai bowl before so maybe what I was served was typical but it seemed awfully skimpy on the fresh fruit to me. We had been given a rave review for this restaurant so we drove quite a ways to get there. It was not worth the drive. Parking: right outside door of restaurant
