But the rooms are newer and immaculate. The rooms are so beautifully decorated with giant old windows that look out on a pastoral scene. A family of sweet cats live outdoors for you to pet on the wrap-around porch, but inside no cats or cat hair. I have allergies but they were not triggered at all while I was there because it is mostly wood floors. My bed was extra comfortable and luxurious. Updated bathroom with a great hot shower. Many places to read a good book or play a board game or cards...there is even a pool table. I felt like I had escaped into another world that had an amazing story of its own.It was interesting and peaceful. The Inn with its pastoral grounds and spring are nowhere near the camp but I understand you can go with your RV too. They have a restaurant and tennis courts in the works which I can't wait to try on my next visit. Continental Breakfast and Netflix included!Noteworthy details: The water tasted good! No lime or rust stains as you see in some older secluded places. I felt safe which is important when traveling alone. I would definitely recommend it to anyone though! I heard they have hosted Murder Mystery Dinners and Weddings
We had such a wonderful stay last night. They accommodated us last minute as we were trying to escape the storm and get off of the road. Very sweet people comfortable beds and rooms. Great little spot with lots of charm!
Very much enjoyed my overnight stay here. I checked in after midnight and the lady was so sweet, very neat historic old rooming house is what it looked like to me. Our room was very inviting for a great night's sleep. Didn't want to get up the next morning, but got up and went down stairs to breakfast. She had coffee and juice and cereal and breads. It's off the beaten path, but we'll worth it for a peaceful night's sleep
Ellerbe Springs Resort is a wonderful place to spend time relaxing and embracing the wonders of nature. Acre upon acre of trees and trails nearby and surrounding the grounds. Ducks on the pond to deer in the marvelous wooded surroundings make this location great for a mini retreat. The historical Inn, recently reopened, is finding new life. I look forward to my next visit to discover what additional features the new owners have revived and added!
The historic Ellerbe Springs Inn first opened in 1906. Restoration is a work in progress so be prepared for a mix of old and new. We stayed in room 7 which was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Guest rooms are upstairs. There is no elevator or stair lift which means ADA accessibility is currently not possible. Each room has its own temperature control and private bathroom. The water pressure is good though it takes a few minutes for hot water to flow. Downstairs rooms include game room parlors with foosball and a pool table, and a large open dining room where continental breakfast is served (bagels, breads, cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt, juice, milk, water and Keurig hot beverages). A restaurant open for dinner some evenings is in a separate building on the property, a short walk from the inn. The mineral springs for which the resort is known are not currently accessible, though there is a catch and release fish pond. And there is an RV campground located a short drive from the inn, barely noticeable through the trees. When you book a reservation, be aware that the exterior of the inn needs fresh paint, and the worn carpet on the interior stairs needs to be removed, but the HVAC, electric, and water systems are all in good working order. The cats lounging around the porch and yard are friendly but cautious so give them ample time to approach you before offering scritches. And please also be patient with the family working very hard to improve the property. They have a lot of projects to tackle, which will take time and money to complete. They are off to a great start and we look forward to visiting again in a few months to see their progress.
