Southern Maid Donuts - Elgin

I absolutely love this place! The staff is incredibly friendly and quick, but what really stands out are the delicious donuts.

The restaurant was lovely and spotless. The breakfast offerings looked delicious. Our experience has been excellent. I truly have to commend the woman at the counter—she was incredibly busy yet managed everything well. Customers were waiting to be served, and there were others in the drive-thru. Meanwhile, another team member was busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen. We definitely plan to return, even if it means waiting a bit.

The display cases were filled with donuts, but unfortunately, they were sold out. I also noticed that they were out of muffins as well. It was quite evident that the service wasn't welcoming to everyone, particularly those who are not white. This experience was disappointing.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but these were the worst donuts I've ever had and the staff isn't much better than their product seeing as they run out of everything by 9 and won't make anymore, despite not closing until noon. Save your money. If another donut shop opened in the the area, this place would easily be out of business.

I just had one of their blue berry muffins and it was amazing.
