I was still craving something specific. It arrived early and appeared quite simply as a filet of fish skin side up cast next to a sautéed jumble of mixed vegetables unceremoniously tossed on the plate. Visually, I was spontaneously disappointed. But having waited and consumed 2 glasses of good red wine, I tucked in. It was SO good! On several levels I was impressed. If I had not been dining alone (the very way one can appreciate good food! I might have missed how truly well crafted this seemingly simple meal was prepared. Dorada was well seasoned with the skin crisply enhancing the soft flesh of the interior and the vegetables were a melange that included some happily unusual choices perfectly al dente with just the right hints of herb and oil. If I had been dining with anyone else, I might have missed the beautifully executed yet subtle details. How satisfying! Take time to appreciate an establishment that truly loves the art of cooking in a small, rather nondescript town that has a high comfort level of sameness. Le Moill is a gem.
On entering the restaurant, which at this point was empty, we were shown to the smallest table in the room. We asked for another table and we were shown the next smallest table in the room. Okay the rest may have been booked, however an hour and a half later there were still many empty tables better suited to our 6ft bodies and in the meantime other 'couples ' were 'allowed to sit on more suitable larger tables. We ordered the wine and asked for water. We had to ask a further two times for water as it had still not arrived during our meal. When eventually it did arrive it was warm. The wine was stone cold as if it had been in a freezer, not a wine cooler. We ordered a salad for two people to share and we were served one salad for one person. The salad was nothing like it was described on the menue, it was basically cheap potatoe salad with a few fish eggs on top. My husband ordered steak tartare and asked for it to be spicy...it wasn 't. He asked for a chipito of brandy, which seemed to cause confusion. A customer intervened and told us the waitress was not used to serving a chipito of brandy with steak tartare ???? What that has got to do with it beats me, it 's irrelevant. I ordered fish as I was ordering a particular type of fish, the waitress totally ignored me and rattled off to my husband all the types of fish they had. I again ordered my fish and again she ignored me and looked at my husband and repeated my order ??? Um do I exist ??? The people that were in the restaurant all seemed to know one another and it felt very clicky and uncomfortable. We were not asked once How was your meal The cost of this experience was around 62 euros, overpriced with really bad service and vibes. This was our first visit to this restaurant and our last. There are far to many other great restaurants with friendly service with people that know what they are doing. They have also lost out on any future business with our friends as we shall be telling everyone of them not to go there.
First impressions are good, a small Gastro Bar well decorated and nicely laid tables. The Al La Carte menu is somewhat limited but looks interesting. Unfortunately it goes down hill from there. Firstly the waitress got our order wrong and treated my wife as though she was not there. We ordered wine and water, the red wine was way too cold and we had to ask three times for the bottle of water we ordered. First course sounded impressive in the menu description, it turned out to be a potato salad and not a particularly good one, we ordered two portions and only got one. This was followed by Iberico croquettes which were tasteless, luke warm and claggy. The next dish was a prawn served in a scallop shell covered in an over sweet sauce. My wife had hake as the main coarse, see her review. I had one of my favourite dishes, steak tartar, I asked for it to be spicy, it was not, I also asked for a chopito of brandy, for some reason this caused a problem, the waitress could not understand why I wanted it and questioned my choice, surely if a customer asks for a brandy why not just serve it with a smile . As it happens the steak tartar was nothing special, too much fat content, not enough herbs (not given a choice) a little too wet. By this time we had only been in the restaurant for an hour, the whole experience had not been pleasant and we felt rushed. At no time during our visit was we asked if everything was OK. At this point we decided we had had enough, the bill was 62.00 Euros, had the food been good and the service professional this price would have been fine but the lousy service really spoilt it for us. Will we be going back Absolutely not. We went across the road to a little cafe and had coffee and a brandy and got ten times better service than we had experienced in Le Moill.
We have been happy to discover this restaurant. cozy, detailed, excellent service. dishes made, very special kitchen. the least I have, the duck, the other exquisite
Perfect. The food is so good. The deal was unbeatable. We'll repeat the insurance.
