Przekaż informację zwrotnąI had dinner here with colleagues in July 2017. Unlike most other establishments in the surrounding area that serves popular junk food, this restaurant serves real food. This is a vibrant and busy restaurant and it seems advisable to make a reservation in advance. Although...More
My Mom and I went here for lunch today. My Mom ordered the roast beef sandwich, and I got the turkey sandwich. Both were delicious! LOVED the cheese bread. The roast beef and turkey was real meat, and not deli meat! Very good. The service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush. I think it was because we were in the back room, and there was only 1 waitress attending that side of the restaurant. As we left, I picked up a pecan square and lemon square to go. The pecan square was the perfect size and it wasn't sickly sweet. The lemon square had a deliciously crumbly thick crust. It isn't too pricey, which my Mom and I really appreciated. It reminded her of when she used to eat at good restaurants before they were extremely overpriced.
We had family in the University Hospital for several days and were in need for some fresh air and a change of menu. We were fortunate to find this delightful café tucked away off the main streets. The first visit was lemon meringue pie and earl grey tea on the patio. It was perfect. You may have trouble deciding on your dessert. The second visit, I shared shared a tuna salad sandwich with salad and a sticky toffee pudding. They portioned the sandwich and salad on two separate plates which was wonderful. The portions are generous and it all was fresh and tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was , "ridiculously good," as my mom told the waitress! I am almost embarrassed to say I had the sticky toffee pudding again on my third visit in the week! Note for anyone staying close to the hospital: they have a selection of prepared meat pies you can take away and cook yourself.
The restaurant has been one of our gems, we have been going there for years about every 4-6 weeks, well not anymore! Not sure what has happened?New owners?Cheaper ingredients?New chef?My favorite meal was replaced with rubber chicken, it's was either frozen, microwaved or both. The sauce not creamy, just very watery and worst of all this meal was not gluten free - not anymore! With all the restaurants that are honest with their food and gluten free, we will not be going there in the future!
Great restaurant that is obviously popular based on the size of the restaurant - and the fact that at lunch, every table was occupied! Once I enjoyed their "quiche special of the day" I understood why. Great food, great service, great menu. Food was served quickly and hot, and yet never felt rushed in any way. Our waitress was excellent, friendly and aware of the level in my coffee cup at all times. Look forward to returning to this restaurant.
