The Clever Rabbit Vegetarian Cafe

I love the clever rabbit! If you ever have a vegan/ vegetarian friend come into town go and give this place a try.

Going with the vegetarian / vegan trend that my friend had been into lately, we decided to try this vegan cafe on 124st for a weeknight meet up and dinner.

This is my all time favourite place for vegan peanut butter banana waffles and vegan meats.

Went with my Vegan nephew. It has that university granola vibe (yes I'm older). Comfortable scattering of movable tables/chairs - understand they do yoga events. Smaller in size - and everything done on an "easy" pace. Good location for a bite and a conversation. Had their "donair" with a side dish of "chilli". The donair was very tasty - even for a real meat lover - fresh vegetables and good portion. The Chilli - well not so spectacular - with a rice bed (didn't finish it). A true vegetarian will be pleased with the food quality. There was only one couple other than us, so can't comment on service times during a RUSH. Staff and venue exudes a casual, if not, "what-ever" vibe.

I have taken a few vegetarians as well as pseudo-veggies here.I really appreciate the humble down to earth vibe. It is a simple, quirky vegetarian cafe that has a creative meatless spin on forever-loved dishes. I have been here in the afternoon (prior to dessert at Duchess, which happens to be next door - great low-key date night idea!!), dinner coupled with a tea-infused chat session, and brunch. Nothing on the menu is over pretentious or fancy - expect comfort foods with vegetarian substitutes (i.e. cashew and/or coconut milk to add creamy texture to potato & dill soup, for example). The drip coffee and the baked goods aren't bad either.Fun fact: There is a giant painting of a Harlequin Great Dane near the washroom. This is actually a dog named Sparticus - family member of the owners of the next door business Food Dish Wishes (a pet bakery/supplies shop affiliated with the Whitecourt Homeless Animal Rescue Foundation).
