Thai Orchid Restaurant - Edmonton

We ordered this as a delivery from DoorDash due to the ongoing pandemic. The pad Thai was tasteless. The chicken with cashews and the green veggie curry were good but not exceptional. Overall, I think 3/5 is reasonable. It is possible my tastes were jaded from having Thai in Thailand and some of the major cities in the US.

Went to the Thai Orchid this past weekend and found that the food was just average at best. Green Curry dish was very thin and ran all over. the chicken dish that we had was dry and had no flavour. Pad was ok and the rice was just average. There are better Thai restaurants around for the money.

The food was average for the most part with a few being good such as the egg noodles, yummy. The service was rushed and then the started cleaning the room and turning out lights. They didn’t have the courtesy to inform us that they would be closing soon when reservations were made or when we were seated. The food would likely register 3.5 but the poor service dropped the overall rating to 2.5 so the rating split the difference at 3 out of 5.

If you want your Thai food to be made fresh you need to be patient for the food to come. Our food came out one dish at a time which works for us. We started with the veggie spring rolls, then we had the Pad Thai. jasmine rice, cashew chicken, red beef curry and veggie stir fry. All dishes were fresh and yummy.

The food was excellent and the service was also very good. We especially like the Pad Thai. This was the first time during this visit that the restaurant wasn’t really busy. The six of us in the restaurant really enjoyed the quietness and the additional attention.
