It 's either too small 12x18 or too big 18x24 way too much leftovers)<br/ <br/ So I tried another place )which I will leave nameless with a cake) that suited my needs 17x17 after 30mins of the baker reassuring me he would get the color bang on easy part he said) and the drawing a lot harder he said). I paid in full $100) and returned to get the cake a 5 days later and the the logo was brown vs the grey I left them a pic of the logo). I really didn 't want to take possession of the cake but I already paid on full. No compensation nothing. So I vowed never to return or recommend anyone on going to there. <br/ Note if anyone wants to see a pic of the logo and cake. Please reply. I showed a pic of the cake and logo to my friends and all of them laughing. <br/ <br/ Fast forward 4 months later for my teams year end wrap up party. I thought why not go to HK bakery. I have been in numerous times a year thru out my life. They too had the size I needed 17x17 $100 fruit middle cake). I spoke with the baker about the color. He said it won 't be an exact match but he would do the best he could. I was hesitant but he made a sample of the color and showed me. It was grey! And not brown so I paid in full and would come back 5 days later at 11am to pick it up<br/ <br/ 5 days later, I arrived at 10:50am. The cake wasn 't quite ready and they told me another 15min. So I patiently sat down and watched ppl come and go and had a really good look around at the pastries. There was a steady stream of customers coming and buying stuff. I counted the 2 trays of egg tarts. Looked to hold 80 in total and approx 40 had been sold. The goods smelled great. <br/ <br/ At 11:05am. A worker called me over and showed me the cake. Boom!!!! I was super impressed how it turned out. Way better than I imagined. <br/ <br/ At the team wrap up party. When the cake was unboxed. Quickly parents phones came out to take pics of it. I get that response from garden bakery but didn 't get that from the 'nameless ' place)<br/ <br/ Cake was super good as expected. Had some leftovers. A few parents took some home with them but I was still left with quite a bit I 'm glad cause I like eating the cake)<br/ <br/ All in all. Hong Kong bakery will be my goto spot from now on for team cakes and pastries
I often go to this restaurant to buy Chinese donuts, egg tarts, and tapioca puddings in bulk. It's my go-to spot when I visit Chinatown on the weekends. Although Garden Bakery is good, this place excels in egg tarts and brisket noodles, but some of their pastries are greasy.
I absolutely adore HK Bakery. They offer a wide variety of buns and pastries that you can't find at T T or other Asian stores. I would consider it to be quite authentic, as my parents and friends who have lived in Hong Kong mention that the buns and pastries here are almost as good as the ones back home. Plus, their prices are much more affordable than T T. I've heard that their cakes are also delicious, although I haven't had the chance to try them yet.
This is a typical Chinese bakery with a small space and a limited selection of items. While they have some decent offerings, I personally prefer Garden Bakery as I find their options to be better.
Cute little bakery in Chinatown. It had all the generic Asian bakery goodies. I had a chestnut mousse dessert as well as a red bean pastry both were decent.
