Been eating there for many years. The owners are very friendly and the Donair's are to die for especially when you ask for the home made garlic sauce instead of the sweet. The garlic sauce should be it's own food group!I'll call it the best Donair in the city, nothing else I've had lives up to Donair express IMO.
Not just the best donair in Edmonton, it is the best donair anywhere. Amazing amount of homemade meat and fresh veggies. Quality matters at this place!
I was craving a donair, so I turned to Urbanspoon to find a highly rated spot. After discovering my original choice had closed earlier than expected, I stumbled upon Donair Express. The restaurant was simple but clean, and I was greeted warmly upon arrival. I ordered the Jumbo donair for $10, a bit more expensive than what I was used to. The size was equivalent to a super donair, not as large as I had hoped. The meat was not freshly shaved but cooked on a grill, giving it a slightly different flavor. The amount of tomato and lettuce was more than I preferred, despite requesting light toppings. The sweet sauce used was delicious and not overly sugary. Overall, while the donair was not the best I've had, it satisfied my craving and I would return under similar circumstances.
My family and I have been dining at this place since I was a child. It's a fantastic place for donairs only, but they are delicious and affordable. Plus, they stay open really late.
