B-Bim-Baab Restaurant - Edmonton

Came here on a Saturday night with a friend. Read a lot of reviews and the general feel was "good food, bad service." No problem, we are both familiar with Korean food and not fussy about service. Place looked busy as expected of 7pm on a Saturday night. We walked in the door and there is a sign that says "Please wait to be seated," peeked inside and the place was pretty much full with a couple of small tables free, sure, we'll wait. Well we waited for close to half an hour, no one came to greet us, no one even came near the door. We stood there for so long that people eating there started to give us funny looks. Waiters and waitresses just gave passive glances at us and had no reactions of us trying to catch their attention. We ended up leaving and going to another place. This kind of ignorance is outrageous. I wasn't expecting a great service but at least someone to come and say "hello, we are busy, it should be about [insert time frame] wait." The general feeling we got was that we were clearly not wanted there. I can't speak about the food, judging by the many reviews I'm sure it is great. I won't be going back there but if you are and if you are reading this review, don't go on a busy night because your presence is clearly not welcomed.

Met for a business lunch. The place is quick with the Buffett. Very good tasty items on the Buffett 3 kinds of soups, kimchee, coconut curry, and wonton. Fried bulgogis. Deep fried wonton, sesame sprouts, etc all very good. I would recommend this to anyone for lunch, great tasty food.

As we wanted to try a Korean dish I had heard about we decided to try this restaurant and I ordered the bee bim bap. It is a cast iron pot with rice in the bottom and vegetables and meat on top and lastly a fried egg. The pot is very hot and the server adds hot sauce and mixes everything up. Really delicious. The pot makes the rice on the bottom crispy.My husband had very tasty beef ribs.Good value and good service. We will return on a future date to enjoy this again.

Better half called ahead and ordered take out. When presented with the $50 bill for 3 dishes, the Short Ribs were $4 more and Chicken Dish $1.50 more than noted on the take out menu the one they had sitting on their counter. The person who at first claimed to be the manger said the prices had gone up and refused to honour the take-out menu price. When asked to speak to someone else, they said the manager who could change the price was out of the country and refused to budge. It wasn't the $5 it was the principle and the attitude. Eventually they offered some free wontons which we could have done without, commenting that it would cost them money to make them. Given that it was rush hour traffic on a Friday and not wanting to have to drive somewhere else, she accepted the Won Tons. Now to add insult to injury, while the food was good, for 3 dishes that each came with kimchee and sprouts, we were given 1 small styrofoam cup of each that was only 2/3 full - not enough for even 1 person. Overall, the food was good, but the service left a really BAD TASTE in our mouths - and we probably won't go back.
