There was a bit of a wait for our wine, but when it arrived, the red and white we had chosen were worth it. My wife started with the trio of pork and I had the tiger prawns, both of which were excellent and got us excited for the main course. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse. My wife found a bone in her cod and chips, making her eat slowly and carefully. As for my Bolognese linguine, it was a major disappointment. It lacked any seasoning and tasted bland. I tried adding some salt, but it didn't help. My wife couldn't finish the pasta either, agreeing that it was the worst we've ever had. The waitress offered to bring us something else, but we had lost our appetite by then. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, but something seems off in the kitchen.
I received a gift voucher for a three-course meal for two with wine at this restaurant and made a reservation in advance. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty and we were given a menu that seemed decent. However, it was quickly swapped out for a more basic pub grub menu. I had my heart set on something from the original menu, so I offered to pay the extra cost, which was approved. We didn't have room for dessert, so we assumed the cost would cover the supplement, but we were still charged the extra £8. Despite this, the waitress was very friendly, and the hotel itself looked impressive. However, the restaurant was basic with no tablecloths and simple decor. Overall, I would not choose to dine here again.
We only visited the restaurant for dinner as we live in Edinburgh and did not stay at the hotel. The staff were very nice and friendly, and the service was excellent. However, we were disappointed with the food, particularly the risotto which was the worst I have ever had. There was no kids menu, so we had to order adult meals and split them between our two children. Unfortunately, we would not return.
Booked using taste cards, it was later in the afternoon and staff were preparing for afternoon teas. We all 5 settled for the steak and ale pie, my meat was tender though two of our party had a bit fat in theirs the rest was good with freshly cooked veg. We all bar 1 had a sweet puddings which we found to be delicious. Staff were attentive friendly and accommadating Thank you for being so helpful
Excellent choice and delicious food, lovely dining room with outlook to Royal Terrace Gardens. Our waitress was lovely friendly and efficient.
