The Ox - Edinburgh, City of

We had an early dinner at this restaurant on our first night. The food was delicious (we even tried some haggis) and it was served promptly. The service was very attentive, so thank you for that.

I had heard about The Ox on TripAdvisor and the reviews of their Famous Sunday Roast sounded promising. After emailing the owner to confirm if certain items from the regular menu were available on Sundays, I was pleased to receive a quick response confirming they were. I made a reservation and upon arrival, I found the restaurant to have a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We were seated upstairs near a window, which allowed us to people-watch while we dined. We ordered the roast Scottish beef and beer battered haddock. I was slightly disappointed with the roast beef as I was expecting a larger portion, but the two thin slices were well cooked despite being fatty. The haddock, however, was cooked perfectly. I would like to give special recognition to Ella, who stepped in as our server at times and made us feel welcome, unlike our original server. Would I return to The Ox? Perhaps for drinks, a burger, and the overall atmosphere.

I had only a very good meal at ochsen. many menu options. eat really good and service excellent. reasonable price. would recommend.

Great restaurant with cozy, rustic atmosphere and friendly staff. the bark meat is roasted here on Sunday is absolutely to die and in any case to experience from its way, one of the best in edinburgh. on the more expensive side for a Sunday roast, but in my opinion it was definitely worth the price! would definitely recommend.
