Shebeen - Edinburgh, City of

This place is amazing! They have a great understanding of flavor and portion sizes. I had the seafood fillets with an omelette, and it tasted even better than it looked. The service and prices were also excellent. Highly recommend!

I stumbled upon shebeen and just had to stop to try out some African cuisine. The menu didn't provide much information, so I decided to give it a go that same evening. The decor was fitting and gave off an African vibe. I asked the waiter for a recommendation from Africa, but was not satisfied with the response. I decided to go with the lion size rib eye on the bone and firkadelle to start. The starter wasn't as tasty as I had hoped for, and the lion steak was a massive piece of meat that didn't quite hit the mark. Overall, I was disappointed as I had been eager to experience what African cuisine had to offer.

In portions are huge, but eating is good. we have all changed to burgers that someone else has got them and they were beautiful, sides were good, but we couldn't finish them! (and very impressed by the table near that who had appetizers, net and dessert

I really like this place, I have been here many times. The staff is friendly, they have a great selection of house wine, and their steaks are amazing. Not a fan of steak? I recommend trying the bunny chow mild curry served in a bread roll. It's very filling!
