Before embarking on my trip, I made a note of several recommended restaurants to sample haggis. As I was strolling from Princess Street Park to my hotel, I stumbled upon this particular restaurant and recalled its name. Curious, I decided to step inside to inquire about making a reservation...
Had the Robert Burn's Haggis and my wife had the fish and chips. The food was good but the service has been absolute **** and mask wearing is super inconsistent, especially considering the automatic gratuity. We've been sitting with empty glasses for about ten...minutes now, wanted dessert but we're not willing to spend more money here. Do yourself a favor and hit The Albanach a hundred yards up the road. Foods just as good and the wait staff are phenomenal.
Absolutely beautiful place, so cosy and comfortable with an eclectic style. Our server (Piotr, I think) was enchanting. He was so funny, entertaining and friendly. The food was amazing. I had haggis, needs and tatties with whiskey sauce and my husband had haggis stuffed chicken....Both dishes were delicious and I was most upset I couldn't finish mine as I was full but I enjoyed every mouthful. Very highly recommended if visiting Edinburgh Old Town
Son and girlfriend took me here as a birthday treat because they know I love Haggis. The food was excellent, really well presented but the whole experience was let down by the staff. The barman didn’t seem to have much idea, he was asked for...a Negroni and what arrived was so bitter tasting it made the son’s girlfriend feel so sick that she had to leave the restaurant to go back to the hotel. Not impressed, very expensive, plus the Gents loos were absolutely freezing. Won’t be rushing back!
