Just tried the Bella Mia restaurant in McAllen. It's at the northeast corner of Hackberry and Broadway across the street from Wilson Elementary. The Edinburg location is closed. My wife had the lasagna and I had the Pizzaiola. We both loved our dishes. The new location is in The Art Village on Main. The restaurant is very cute and comfortable. Please give Bella Mia a try. You will not leave dissatisfied or hungry. The service was great. The owner and chef even stopped by our table.
Delicious Italian food! Portions are large and yet good till the last bite. Take out service orders are promptly prepared and well packed that still eat at home hot ..
That was the most disgusting experience I ever had in a restaurant. eating was unbelievable as usual, but it must be new workers. the waiter would ignore us and the waiters would be mocking us. I've been coming to this restaurant for years and it's sad to see how the new generation will be co-workers who treat them to others with respect. I would love an apology for the childish activities of the personal, but we were ignored. we were the only table in the restaurant and nobody helped. the personal laughed at us and was very rude. once again fantastic food, but new employees or better training would make this my favorite restaurant again.
Another one that will close soon after opening. Servers were just horrible. Walked in and was told we could sit anywhere and after we sat down another server rushed up and rudely scolded us saying we have to move wonderful greeting. We went to another table and she said not there either go to the other room like we were freaking children being sent to our room. My date wanted to leave but I convinced her to stay as I wanted to try the food. We sat in the bar room area. The rude lady came over and her introduction was do you know what you want No hello, no welcome, just a stone face stare. Two other couples came in during this time also, recieved the same treatment and just walked out. But it gets better. I ordered the lasagne but she brought me some kind of chicken dish. I told the server I'm sorry I think I recieved someone elses plate I ordered the lasagne she said no you didnt well I'm sorry but I know what i ordered and I would never have been chicken. No offer to fix or make it right. I decided to keep it but total regret chicken strips floating in a sea of some kind of yellow tangy soupy pasta horrible. The pasta was not anywhere near a good italian restaurant pasta not fresh at all tasted cardboardy like the dollar store or grocery store pasta. My Date ordered a shrimp pasta dish it came with 2 lonely shrimp on a mound of this yuck cardboard pasta. Asked for a manager or owner but was told none available they were busy. Threw a few bucks on the table and left. The possibibility off having a real italian restaurant in McAllen was to good to be true. My money is on them closing the doors before the end of summer. Hopefully sooner as I will spread the word of our experience
