There was a new menu which to be fair had a nice selection of vegan options, so I chose the blueberry pancakes but they were so small and a little disappointing. Also I’m not a fan of how the ingredients are baked into the pancakes themselves rather than being on top quite weird.. Nothing against the staff or anyone as they were all lovely and are just doing their job :
We have been to the pancake house at both Whinfell and Sherwood many times before and it’s a highlight for the children (we quite enjoy it too! but on this occasion we were booked in on Monday at 9:15am (an easy treat breakfast on our last day of holiday only to be told that there was no Oreo pancakes due to supply issues. All fine, so we read the (new menus then ordered, they had run out of Nutella and maple syrup was running out so we couldn’t order that either?! I could maybe understand if it was late in the day, but we were one of the first tables of the day? I walked to the Parc Market, bought Nutella and maple syrup for my daughter to have with her pancakes as it’s what she had been looking forward to!
The staff are fantastic, service fast and lovely vibe within the cafe! There is sadly a but the pancakes are lacking! I find it absolutely bizarre that they bake the ingredients into the batter rather than serving them on top of the pancake I’ve never seen anything quite like it (and frankly glad I haven’t)! The best part about a banoffee pancake is the fresh bits of banana on the top to counter the sweetness from the caramel! By baking them into the batter it loses the flavor and the lovely texture sooo disappointing! And don’t get me started on the all day breakfast! Reading reviews I seem to be the only one who has an issue with this but my entire family thought these were the strangest pancakes ever! Again this is nothing against the staff and the establishment!
Massive let down. The food was bland and massively overpriced for what it was. The omelette breakfast was dry and tasteless. My son did enjoy his American pancakes but it was literally a pile of sickly sweet sugar. I ordered a traditional crepe and had to complain as it was exactly the same batter as the American pancake batter. Would definitely not go again sadly.
Just visited for a superb lunch. Obviously very busy ,but booking system works very well. Met by Mary , who was lovely throughout the visit. Woody served us ,very friendly, informative and efficient . All four of us served within 15 minutes, four different pancakes . All freshly prepared ,well cooked and tasty. One dessert pancake, excellent. Compliments to Mary and Woody plus the three lady chefs. Thank you!
