Echuca Workers & Services Club

Went here for dinner one night. The venue is a great place with a really friendly atmosphere. Being vegan I often have problems finding something to eat and have learnt from bitter experience that a lot of Clubs do not really cater for vegans or people who have dietary restrictions. There was a Red Wine and Chorizo risotto that had a vegetarian option so I chose that without Parmesan cheese. My partner had steak (which was a bit rare for medium) with a small serve of fat chips a mushroom and a few shabby beans. The chips were very ordinary. Unfortunately I am sorry to say my meal was one of the worst restaurant meals I have ever had. I would like to point out that I am not a fussy eater by any stretch of the imagination and I try to be fair in my reviews. My meal was a stodgy rice dish with a whole heap of onion and nothing else apart from an overpowering flavour of red wine. I could have cooked a much better meal at home! I find it amazing that a restaurant that I assume would have a great selection of fresh vegetables, spices and a qualified chef could not come up with something a bit more appetising. Maybe the chef was absent or something.

We attended this club again recently for lunch and opted for the Monday special of Bovine and Beveridge. The young waitress was very polite and helpful when taking our order but the older lady was somewhat rude and butted in when we requested our gravy on the side. We received a large thin T-bone steak each with a good serve of vegies and a beer and wine thrown in for only $15.00 each. Our steaks were a little over cooked and tough but otherwise the meal was okay. I previously reviewed this venue over 12 months ago and at that time I suggested that the steak knives provided needed to be replaced as they were a cheap type and difficult to use. They tended to bend and lacked sharpness. Well I can now report that nothing has changed regarding the steak knives. Perhaps if the steak was more tender then there would be no need for steak knives. We will probably give this venue a miss next time we are in Echuca and go over the river to the other clubs or the Border Inn.

Visited on Monday steak night three of group had the steak all good I had the roast of the day.Roast lamb not so good seemed to have been reheated a coule of times.Service was pleasant

Good menu selection at reasonable prices. Friendly staff whom we enjoyed chatting with about the area. Easy to find Club. Enjoyed the meal.

Very nice meal they also run a shuttle bus to pick you up from your motel within a 10klm radius all staff were very pleasant and helpful the meal we had was delicious
