Boondocks - EASTERN PASSAGE

I needed to escape the crowds in Halifax and discovered that Boondocks restaurant was the perfect spot to enjoy a meal.

I visited this restaurant on Wednesday, September 13. Although the place was open, the main doors were locked. We waited over 45 minutes for our orders: a pan-fried haddock that was so thin you could almost see through it, and a burger. I noticed at least two other couples who came in after us and placed their orders, yet they were served before us. The staff were friendly, but one young man had such a strong aftershave or body spray that it became overwhelming for me, as I am sensitive to strong scents. I had to cover my nose whenever he walked by. Overall, I’m in no rush to return.

This is a lovely restaurant within walking distance from the inn at Fisherman’s Cove. We sampled several dishes from the menu, and the coconut cream pie stood out as unforgettable. There are plenty of seafood options to choose from. We enjoyed clam chowder, poutine, and classic fried haddock.

We've been to Boondocks many times, just last week as well. Food was great and the service was spectacular. Especially the server Jenna. Always smiling, friendly and fast! The fish and chips with poutine was incredible. Great piece of fish and breaded just right. Awesome service. Our server, Jenna, was very attentive and courteous. Perfect experience in Fisherman's Cove.
