Unfortunately, there was a mix-up in the kitchen, and my food was delivered with a lack of care in its presentation, even though it was cooked properly. In an attempt to salvage the situation, I took matters into my own hands and rearranged my breakfast. I sliced the bread diagonally, layered the pieces, drizzled some syrup, and snapped some photos. I did the same with the pancake, spreading on peanut butter and crumbling bacon over it (they didn’t have bananas, so I couldn't make a full Elvis pancake). The bread remains fantastic! The cinnamon swirl bread was well-soaked and bursting with cinnamon flavor. The French toast was perfectly cooked, custardy, and delicious. However, the pancake fell a little flat; the peanut butter tasted cheap and unroasted, lacking a strong flavor. The crispy, salty bacon helped enhance it a bit, but the peanut butter really needed to be roasted before processing. In terms of cost, the meal felt a bit overpriced—around $25 for a pancake and two French toasts. The add-ons made this breakfast more expensive than it justified. Despite the presentation issues and some quality inconsistencies, the food was still enjoyable overall. While I’d say it’s a slight step down from my previous visits, it’s still worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood.
We had breakfast there for the first time this week, and both the food and service were amazing!
It was tradition to go here with my dad. I have not been since he passed away. So my mom and I went. Had a roach fall off a ketchup bottle when I went to use it. It landed on my plate and swam in the hollandaise sauce. The server then proceeded to be rude and talk about how they have a fruit fly problem but not these. It was disgusting. The owner then came over with cups of cranberry juice which we declined and she took back to be served again after they had been on our table. It's definitely not taken care of like it use to which is a shame.
Stopped in this morning with Demanding Dan for breakfast, at his suggestion. I hadn 't been in about 7 or 8 years, partly because I recall that their corned beef hash was from a can (and I am a huuuge CBH fan), but also because there are so many other great breakfast places in the area. First of all, notwithstanding the help wanted sign, I thought service was great. Our server, Jenny, was top-shelf. Checked on us constantly, always courteous and efficient. DD ordered his go-to....cinnamon swirl French toast w a side of sausage, and water. I ordered the veggie omelet. Comes w home fries and toast (rye for me) and coffee. Food came out pretty quickly. Dan really enjoyed his meal, and rated it 4-star. My 3-egg omelet was very good; loaded w broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, spinach and onions. My HF were not hot, just barely warm and a bit mushy. Last, a bit pricey, considering only one of us had a beverage. Extra $1.50 for a slice of cheese on my omelet, $3.50 for a side of 2 sausage patties... Total of $29.68 b4 tip. As I said, great service, but underwhelming food. And the CBH is still from a can.
